Ponderosa of Paradise is proud to be a Certified Wildlife Habitat® through the National Wildlife Federation, a program that recognizes landscapes that provide the essential elements wildlife need to thrive so food, water, shelter, and places to raise their young.
It’s a simple but powerful idea: when individuals care for the land where they live, they create small pockets of habitat that, together, help support biodiversity across entire regions. If you’re curious to learn more about the program or even certify your own space, you can explore it through the National Wildlife Federation website and their Certified Wildlife Habitat initiative.
For us, becoming certified was one of the very first steps we took before doing anything on the land. We wanted to make it clear to ourselves and anyone we collaborate with that this place will always prioritize the wildlife that already calls it home. The deer, birds, insects, pollinators, and countless other species were here long before we arrived, and everything we do moving forward will be with respect for their habitat. At the same time, we’re excited to go a step further by increasing biodiversity, planting native and xeric species, creating pollinator and butterfly habitat, saving seeds, and designing the landscape in a way that supports even more life. Our hope is that Ponderosa Paradise becomes a small hub of biodiversity and protection, where the land, wildlife, and people can all thrive together.
